My wife and I have just bought a new house. It's a fairly old house with some great old features like high ceilings, wooden doors and old style wooden parquet floors. What's great about it is that it has been partially renovated and renewed so it can be lived in comfortably from day one and we can upgrade and renovate as we find time to do so.
Some immediate in house projects are:
1. Replace the carpet in the main bedroom with new laminate wood flooring.
2. Repaint
3. Upgrade the security
4. Install down lights in the living areas
5. Install a solar geyser
6. Etc, etc
My pet DIY project however is to convert an outside room (that was once the single garage) into a wine cellar (although the fact that it will be above ground is possibly a contradiction!?)
I have been trying to do some research on the internet and must admit that I haven't found too many "all in one" resources, and even fewer relevant to South Africa. Based on the dearth of information on the subject I invite you to join me as I blog my way through this DIY project. I will be posting some photos of the space in the next blog along with some initial thoughts on first steps!
